Property Prices Remain High
Portuguese housing prices remain at what can only be described as maximums based on historical statistics.
According to data recently released by INE, the Index of Housing Prices in Portugal recorded a figure of 159,1 at the end of the 1st quarter of 2021, representing an annual increase of 5,2 %.
The number of homes sold is also on the rise!
The number of homes sold in Portugal remains high. Despite a 12% chain break, the 1st quarter of 2021 registered a total of 43,757 units sold, a value slightly above that registered in the same period of 2020.
It's important to remember that comparing the first quarters of 2020 and 2021, this year's was spent in almost total confinement, as opposed to 2020. Thus, the figure now registered in 2021 has to be considered as very positive. If we compare the sale of homes in the 1st quarter of 2021 with the 2nd quarter of 2020 (which also spent much of the time in confinement), we see that there is an increase of 31% between those periods.
Good news for Portugal's economy, buyers, sellers and investors.
