Savvy Tip: Tipping in Portugal 🇵🇹

In our beautiful European country, like in all of Europe, tipping is generally not as common or expected as it is in the United States. While leaving a small tip for exceptional service is appreciated, it's not mandatory. However, if you receive outstanding service, rounding up the bill or leaving a few extra euros is always a kind gesture. 

In the USA, the tipping culture is rather different as it is considered a vital part of service workers’ income. However, remember that in Portugal is not mandatory. 

Lately, in places like Lisbon or Porto, there's been a bit of pressure from service staff for customers to leave generous tips. Remember, you're not obligated to do so – feel free to tip only if you genuinely feel the service was exceptional.
